Why Amboseli Is Special
Amboseli protects over 1,500 elephants — including some of Africa's last great tuskers — studied for over 50 years by the Amboseli Elephant Research Project. Because the elephants are habituated and the terrain is open, sightings are close, calm and photographic. Beyond elephants, you'll find lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras and over 400 bird species in the park's swamps and plains.
The Kilimanjaro Factor
Kilimanjaro sits in Tanzania, but its best views are from Kenya. The mountain hides behind cloud much of the day — the classic shots happen at dawn and dusk, when the summit clears. That's why we plan Amboseli itineraries around early morning game drives, and why at least one night inside or beside the park matters so much.

Best Time to Visit
Amboseli works year-round. The dry seasons (June–October and January–February) concentrate wildlife at the swamps and give the clearest mountain views. The green season brings newborn animals, migrant birds and lower lodge rates.

Getting There
Amboseli is roughly 4 hours by road from Nairobi (or 1 hour from Tsavo West), and scheduled flights connect it to Nairobi and the Mara. From Mombasa, we typically route Amboseli through Tsavo — a beautiful bush circuit that ends at the beach.
